A clear booking preference

Request the practitioner you feel comfortable with

A woman can ask for a female practitioner for a cupping or Hijama enquiry.

Include the preference when you call or prepare the WhatsApp message. The clinic will confirm the practitioner, chosen service, date and time before the visit. A request is not an automatic confirmation.

You do not need to justify the preference or share intimate information in the first message.

Your comfort and dignity

Know the plan before you consent

Technique, body area, clothing, draping, expected effects and aftercare should be explained in language you understand.

Privacy

Ask how the room, clothing and draping will protect your privacy for the proposed area.

Consent

You can ask questions, decline an area or technique, pause the session or withdraw consent.

Screening

Medicines, pregnancy, skin health, bleeding risk, allergies and recent procedures may affect suitability.

Choosing the method

Dry cupping and Hijama are not the same

Dry cupping uses suction without intentional skin incisions. Hijama or wet cupping breaks the skin, so bleeding, sterile single-use invasive items, sharps handling and wound aftercare require a separate discussion.

No method should be presented as a guaranteed treatment for women’s health, hormones, fertility, pain or another medical condition.

Independent information

Keep expectations realistic

NIH NCCIH says most cupping research is low quality, evidence for pain reduction is not very strong and cupping may cause skin changes, burns, infection or worsening eczema or psoriasis.

A simple first message
